A BuildingConnected alternative for invite-only subcontracting
BuildingConnected and TradeTapp are Autodesk's tools for bid management and subcontractor prequalification. ScopeMark is an alternative if you want to start from the RFP, keep bidding invite-only and work inside a Canadian compliance workflow.

Why people look for an alternative to BuildingConnected
These are the situations where ScopeMark is worth a look. They describe a fit, not a flaw in BuildingConnected.
You want bidding limited to your own roster
Subcontractors you have invited and who accepted, rather than a large contractor network.
You need help with the RFP, not only the bid
You want the documents read, the scope drafted and the questions tracked before bids go out.
Compliance is documents, not scoring
You check insurance, WSIB, WCB or CNESST papers and decide per company what is acceptable.
You want the trail after award
Milestones with photo proof, change orders and an invoice for each confirmed milestone.
What BuildingConnected is good at
Autodesk's site now says Autodesk Construction Cloud is part of Autodesk Forma, with some product names updated. Autodesk presents BuildingConnected as a bid management product with subcontractor-facing tools, and TradeTapp as its subcontractor prequalification and risk layer. Its public pages list bid invitations from templates with custom bid forms, a side-by-side leveling view in BuildingConnected Pro, a recommendation engine that suggests bidders by location, trade expertise and past performance, TradeTapp questionnaires, financial reviews, safety assessments and risk scoring, and awarded bids that can flow into Autodesk Build.
How ScopeMark is different
- It starts from the RFP itself. AI reads the documents, every finding names its page, and a count check flags when documents disagree.
- Subbing out is invite-only. There is no open job board, and a subcontractor must accept before anything is shared.
- It is built for Canadian trades. Insurance, WSIB, WCB and CNESST document rules, and GST/HST in estimates.
- Two kinds of trust, kept apart. ScopeMark Verified (is the document real and current) and Company Approved (does it meet our bar).
- No money moves. One invoice per confirmed milestone, paid by the buyer directly, with a REST API for your ERP.
ScopeMark is narrower on purpose. It is not a full field, safety and financial suite.

Who should stay with BuildingConnected, and who should look at ScopeMark
Stay with BuildingConnected if…
You want a large contractor network and recommendations, TradeTapp-style financial prequalification and risk scoring, or you already run your project in Autodesk Build.
Look at ScopeMark if…
You want to start from the RFP itself, keep subbing out inside your own invited roster, work with Canadian compliance documents such as WSIB and CNESST, and get a milestone-by-milestone proof and invoice trail.
Switching or starting alongside
- No data import. ScopeMark does not import projects from BuildingConnected. Start with your next RFP or job.
- Keep your record where it is. Your existing system can stay the record for work already under way. ScopeMark's REST API lets an ERP or accounting system pull invoices and report payments back.
- Invite your subcontractors. They accept your invitation, upload their documents once and bid from the mobile app. Nothing is shared with a company until they accept.
- Pricing. ScopeMark is a monthly subscription with plans matched to team size and AI features. We do not compare prices here because they change and depend on the deal. Ask each vendor for a current quote.
Questions people ask
Is ScopeMark an alternative to BuildingConnected?
For part of the job, yes: ScopeMark runs invite-only bidding and bid leveling. It is narrower than Autodesk's suite and has no large contractor network, so it is a fit if you prefer to sub out to people you have invited.
Does ScopeMark replace TradeTapp?
No. TradeTapp covers financial reviews, safety assessments and risk scoring. ScopeMark checks that uploaded documents are authentic and current, and each company records its own approval. It does not score a subcontractor's finances.
Does ScopeMark have a network of contractors?
No. There is no open job board and no directory. A subcontractor sees a company's work only after that company invites them and they accept.
Can ScopeMark be used alongside a larger system?
Yes. ScopeMark's REST API lets an ERP or accounting system pull invoices and report payments back, and many companies would use ScopeMark for the RFP-to-subcontractor part of the job while another system remains their record for the rest.
Does ScopeMark hold or move our money?
No. ScopeMark does not process payments between companies and subcontractors. The buyer pays directly, outside ScopeMark, and records the payment. ScopeMark's only revenue is its subscription.
