BuildingConnected alternatives for managing subcontractor bids
We could verify three alternatives to BuildingConnected from vendors' own pages: Procore Bid Management, ConstructConnect (SmartBid and iSqFt) and ScopeMark. They differ most in where bidders come from: a large network, a leads database, or only subcontractors you invite.
Reviewed October 2026 from each vendor's public pages. Products change, so confirm current features with the vendor.
We make ScopeMark, so we list it here and say where it fits and where it does not. We list fewer tools than a typical roundup on purpose: these are the ones we could describe from the vendors' own public pages in October 2026. Products and prices change, so confirm current features with each vendor.
How to choose
Where do your bidders come from?
A large network, a leads database, or a list of subcontractors you already trust, are three different ways to fill a bid.
How do you compare bids?
Some tools show bids side by side. The harder part is making them cover the same scope before you compare.
How do you qualify subcontractors?
Questionnaires and risk scores, document checks, or your own approval, depending on the tool.
What happens after the award?
Whether the bid turns into a subcontract, a project or an invoice trail in the same tool.
The options
1. BuildingConnected (Autodesk), the one you are comparing against
Autodesk describes BuildingConnected as bid management software with a network of construction professionals. BuildingConnected Pro is for general contractors and owners, Bid Board Pro for subcontractors and TradeTapp for subcontractor qualification. It lists bid invitations, a side-by-side comparison of bids and subcontractor risk management. Autodesk's site now says Autodesk Construction Cloud is part of Autodesk Forma.
Best for: Teams that want a large network of bidders and TradeTapp-style qualification.
Worth knowing: It does not describe reading RFP documents in the pages we reviewed.
2. Procore Bid Management
Procore says you can create, manage, level and track bid invitations, compare bids side by side to identify gaps and outliers, and find and prequalify partners with its subcontractor risk analysis. It sits inside Procore's wider construction management platform.
Best for: Companies already running projects in Procore who want bidding in the same system.
Worth knowing: Bidding is one module of a large platform, so the value depends on how much of Procore you use.
3. ConstructConnect (SmartBid and iSqFt)
ConstructConnect lists SmartBid for sending invitations to bid and managing subcontractors, and iSqFt for general contractors, alongside project data and leads, takeoff and estimating tools. It describes a large database of commercial bid opportunities.
Best for: Contractors that also want leads and takeoff in the same preconstruction platform.
Worth knowing: Strongest before the award. It is not a project execution tool.
4. ScopeMark
ScopeMark keeps bidding inside your own invited roster: a subcontractor sees a job only after you invite them and they accept. Bidders answer the same Included / Not included questions, and the estimator levels bids on one checklist with allowances for gaps. Nothing is awarded for you. It tracks WSIB, WCB and CNESST documents and moves no money.
Best for: Teams where you start from an RFP or a job to sub out, want bidding limited to subcontractors you invite, and work with Canadian compliance documents such as WSIB and CNESST.
Worth knowing: ScopeMark is narrower on purpose. It is not a full field, safety and financial suite, it has no project database or contractor network, and it is available in Canada only today.

Questions people ask
What is the best alternative to BuildingConnected?
It depends on how you source bidders. Procore Bid Management suits teams already in Procore, ConstructConnect combines leads, takeoff and bid invitations, and ScopeMark keeps bidding inside your own invited roster.
Are there BuildingConnected alternatives for Canada?
ScopeMark is built for Canada, with provincial compliance documents and GST/HST. For the other tools, confirm Canadian coverage with the vendor. Autodesk's site lists a Canada region, and Procore has English and French versions of its Canadian site.
Does ScopeMark have a network of contractors like BuildingConnected?
No. There is no open job board and no directory. A subcontractor sees a company's work only after that company invites them and they accept.
How should I compare bids from different subcontractors?
Put every bid on the same checklist of included, excluded and not stated items, add an allowance for each gap, and compare the leveled prices. Our bid leveling guide explains the method with a worked example.
Does ScopeMark hold or move our money?
No. ScopeMark does not process payments between companies and subcontractors. The buyer pays directly, outside ScopeMark, and records the payment. ScopeMark's only revenue is its subscription.
